Miami Beach Holiday

We've just returned from a glorious five days of sun, sea and surf at Miami Beach with Nanna and Pappa. T unfortunately stayed at home chained to his books - with The Exam only 3 weeks away, this was his last opportunity to really knuckle down and study sans kids and wife.

Ahh the Gold Coast. A bit touristy. A bit tizzy. A bit ritzy - love it! I get a high every time I go down to Southport and catch a glimpse of those luxury hotels and high rise apartments of Surfers.
We stayed at The Miami Beachside Apartments which was quiet, family friendly and best of all, only 100m from the beach. Every day we would rise at the crack of dawn (yes, we are all morning people) for a stroll along the beach, followed by a refreshing dip in
the surf and then return to our apartment with growling tummies just in time for brekky. Afterwards during V's morning nap, Pappa
would start on some sketches whilst Nanna, A and I would wander down to the pool for another swim and then enjoy the spa or the "warm pool" as A calls it. The place was wonderfully quiet and we often had the place to ourselves. In the afternoon we would venture out to the beach again for another leisurely walk and swim.

Little Man had an absolute blast! Unafraid of the crashing waves, he would splash and frolick about laughing and shouting in delight. It was wonderful
to watch him enjoy himself as he had been so excited about going on "holidays to the beach with Nanna and Pappa" - asking me every day whether he was going to the beach in the several days before our trip. If you ask him now where he went for his holidays, he will say "MI-am-i Beach". Yes dear Little A, there are beaches other than Noosa Beach (up until now, all beaches to him were "Noosa Beach"!). We collected a lovely assortment of cockle and scallop shells at the beach which A will take to Big Kindy next Tuesday for show-and-tell.V had her first swim, ever. With the water temperature unbelievably warm, she also loved it and surprisingly didn't mind getting her face wet. She looked just gorgeous
decked out in her red and white swimming costume that Nanna and Pappa bought for her.

For me, it was a wonderful time to just relax and have fun - paddling with A, chasing him along the beach and in the waves, watching V kicking in the water and tasting the saltiness of the sea for the first time, feeling the sand in between my toes ( and also exfoliating my disgusting heels!!), enjoying a magical sunrise, not having to look after the kids, being looked after by Nanna and Pappa. Perfect. I couldn't have asked for more..
