Parent Roster Day Term 2
Each term at Big Kindy we are required to spend one day there helping out and today was my turn. Lucky A, since it was his Mummy staying for a play, he got to lead his class out for morning play, as well as head the obstacle course (which he managed superbly).
Since my last roster day in first term, all the children had settled in and now seemed very familiar with the general routine, as well as each other. They now function as a small organised herd (they know exactly when to tidy up, where everything goes, when to have morning tea and when to start hooting when Mrs L sings "The Owl Song") rather than a random collection of little folk each doing his/her own thing. It was just lovely to watch them playing and addressing each other by their names. It was a great opportunity to watch A interact with his classmates who are all so sweet - chatting with me, asking me to do puzzles with them, asking me questions about V etc. etc.
Today, A had a great time in the sandpit, he and the other boys dressed up and pretended to be firemen and then later A spent the afternoon dressed in a magician's cloak but pretending he was superman. They played and sang "One grey elephant" (A was the first elephant). The story of the day was "Don't forget the cheese". Unfortunately A refused to do any cutting with scissors (which was the activity of the day) and he got away with it!
V had a ball. So many children - so many activities - so many little things on the floor to pop into her mouth - and an annoying Mother who kept preventing her!
